The World Needs a Smart New Way to Develop That is Both Ecological and Economically Beneficial.
The power and flexibility of 'always on' wireless broadband everywhere provides the means to restructure society away from the destructive developments of the post industrial age, Various reports conclude that up to 80% of Greenhouse Gases are created by urban populations and over 70% of that is caused by commuting between urban sprawl areas in and out of cities. The majority of jobs in cities are service related: most jobs involve either information work or are cater to information iworkers.
Wireless brings information to the worker rather than bringing the worker to centralized locations. 4G will enable high resolution video communications, virtual learning and meeting capabilities combined with finger tips access to the world-wide resources of the Internet. What's more, 4G will bring a new dimension of location based access and personalization of information that not only replaces the need to commute but provides efficeincy and relevancy advantages which compel businesses and individuals to operate locally. If there were no
problems of Global Warming to compel organization around 4Gs capabilities, these advantages would compel change in themselves. But Global Warming, the digital divide and other problems that detract from or threaten the very existance of society are the challenge we all now face.
Join Green4G in our effort to inform the industry, the community and government about how 4G wireless can be used by companies, governments and indivduals to reduce commuting and build more productive and enjoyable lifestyles.
Wireless and wirelessly enabled companies have an opportunity to promote the emerging 4G industrty as a way forward to a new way of doing business and organizing lifestyles that shifts from an over-dependence on the automobile and environmental impacts.
4G has the potential to influence economic activity and peronal enjoyment by bringing work to the worker, creation of information and entertainment to a more personal basis.
4G is a major theme of The Way Forward to reduce greenhouse gasses and other polution without sacrificing standard of living.

- Educate local, state, regional and national government of the need to promote, regulate, and make use favorable to 4G
- Provide an information resource for products, demonstration projects, white papers, consultants and symposium
- Provide a sounding board for people in the industry who are developing Green4G products and marketing efforts
- Provide a sounding board for service providers and corporate and government users for their experiences, programs and services that reduce environemental impact through the use of 4G woreless
- Promote bridging of the 'broadband infomration divide' that has led to a greater diversion between the standards of living of 'technology haves and have nots'.

Many contributions are already being pursued but the communications industry lacks a common focus and voice that encourages the understanding of the needs and possibilities as a Green industry.The fact is that communications is the 'highway' of the increasingly information based society that becomes more leveraged, personal, and enabling as the next generation technologies and applications spring forward.
4G Multi-Service Wireless Enables Telecommuting and 'Anywhere Personal Computing': Why organize information, work and play around the automobile? 4G brings people, places, and information together to effectively reduce or eliminate the need for telecommuting and much routine travel. Use it. 4G is a new enabling platform to unleash putting information into the hands of people wherever they are. This reduces the need to commute: why commute and pollute? And 4G provides new ways for people to spend more time working productively and for their personal lives.
The average U.S. citizen spends 600 hours per year commuting to and from work. Many more hours are spend doing repetitive errands. 25% or more of that travel can be replaced by telecommuting, easy ride share programs, location based shopping information, and ways yet to be considered.
